Organic sourcing

Tomatoes and lettuce are on the EWG Dirty Dozen list, so buy organic if possible. Other ingredients, like ground beef, benefit from organic's quality standards.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • to taste sea salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 cucumber
  • 150 g cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill

Method

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook the beef until browned and fully cooked, then set aside to cool slightly.
  4. Chop the romaine lettuce, tomato, and cucumber into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Grate the cheddar cheese and set aside.
  6. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and dill to make the dressing.
  7. In a large salad bowl, combine the lettuce, tomato, cucumber, cooked beef, and cheddar cheese.
  8. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and gently toss to combine.

Notes

  • You can substitute romaine with iceberg lettuce for a different texture.
  • Use sharp cheddar for a stronger flavor profile.
  • Prepare the dressing ahead and refrigerate for deeper flavor.
