Organic sourcing
Berries are on the EWG Dirty Dozen due to high pesticide residues. Sourcing organic berries is advisable. Almonds have lower pesticide concerns, making their organic status less critical.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 1/4 cups almond milk
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup mixed fresh berries
- 2 tbsp sliced almonds
- to taste sea salt
Method
- In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, almond milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt.
- Mix the ingredients well to ensure the chia seeds are evenly distributed.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours, to allow the oats to soften and the mixture to thicken.
- Before serving, stir the oats mixture once more to incorporate any settled ingredients.
- Divide the oats into two bowls and top each with fresh mixed berries and sliced almonds.
Notes
- Use any combination of berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
- For added texture, include a tablespoon of chopped nuts or seeds.
