What it meansThe Swiss organic farmers' federation mark. The Knospe (Bud) is the dominant organic mark in Swiss supermarkets and operates to standards stricter than the Swiss federal organic ordinance. The European Commission's voluntary environmental label. Covers cleaning products, paper, textiles, electronics, accommodation services. NOT an organic mark.France's national organic mark, owned by the Ministry of Agriculture. Sits alongside the EU Leaf on virtually all French organic packaging. The federal Canadian organic standard, mandatory on any agricultural product sold across provincial borders or imported as 'organic'.

  • Same standard as the EU Leaf — AB is the brand consumers recognise, not a stricter rule.
  • Provincial sales-only operations are not legally required to carry it (though many do voluntarily).
