What it meansThe federal Canadian organic standard, mandatory on any agricultural product sold across provincial borders or imported as 'organic'.North America's leading 'no genetically modified organisms' certification. Tests for the presence of GMOs in finished products. NOT organic. The UK's largest organic certifier. Standards are stricter than the UK government's baseline (which still mirrors EU 2018/848 post-Brexit). • Annual third-party verification.
  • Tracing and segregation across the supply chain.
  • Stricter-than-baseline organic standards across food, textiles, cosmetics, and farming.
  • Annual on-site inspection.
  • Animal welfare standards (outdoor access, lower stocking density).
  • ≥95% organic ingredients.
  • No synthetic pesticides, no GMOs.
  • Annual third-party certification.
Does NOT
  • Provincial sales-only operations are not legally required to carry it (though many do voluntarily).
  • Doesn't mean organic — Non-GMO products can use synthetic pesticides and fertilizers freely.
  • Logo is trademarked — not a free-licence mark.
  • Domestic-only sales can also use FSSAI's 'Jaivik Bharat' mark — if you see only 'Jaivik Bharat' without 'India Organic', the supply chain may be PGS-India rather than NPOP-accredited.
