What it meansThe European Commission's voluntary environmental label. Covers cleaning products, paper, textiles, electronics, accommodation services. • Peer-review inspection via Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS).

Does NOT
  • Doesn't apply to food. Doesn't mean organic.
  • Norway is outside the EU — the Ø is recognised under EEA equivalence, not direct EU equivalence.
  • PGS-based — the inspection model is community peer-review rather than third-party. Strong for domestic markets, less recognised by the EU/USA than third-party schemes.
  • A single product may carry IBD plus a country-specific organic mark — IBD itself isn't the regulatory mark in any of those markets, just the accredited certifier.
