Bioland-certified farms operate to a stricter private standard than the EU baseline.Vottunarstofan Tún is Iceland's only accredited organic certifier. • Whole-farm conversion (no parallel conventional production).
  • Lower permitted nitrogen inputs than EU baseline.
  • Animal welfare standards stricter than EU baseline.
  • Annual on-site inspection.

  • Annual on-site inspection.

Does NOT
  • Doesn't mean organic — many Fairtrade products are conventionally grown. A separate Fairtrade-Organic dual certification exists.
  • Like Naturland, membership-based — only Bioland-association farms can use the mark.
  • There aren't many Tún-certified operations (~120–160) — coverage in the Icelandic market is narrower than in the EU mainland.
