The mark must appear on any food sold as 'organic' (有機 or オーガニック) in Japan.Denmark's national organic mark, owned by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. • No synthetic pesticides, no GMOs, no irradiation.
  • Annual third-party certification under the Canada Organic Regime.
  • ≥95% organic ingredients.
  • No synthetic pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers, no GMOs.

  • Annual on-site inspection by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
  • Direct government control (not a private body) — the unusual Danish model that drives high consumer trust.
Does NOT
  • A single product may carry IBD plus a country-specific organic mark — IBD itself isn't the regulatory mark in any of those markets, just the accredited certifier.
  • Provincial sales-only operations are not legally required to carry it (though many do voluntarily).
  • Mutual recognition with the US, EU, and Canada applies to specific product categories — check each agreement before importing.
  • Outside Denmark, retailers usually rely on the EU Leaf rather than the Ø.
