What it meansSouth America's largest organic certifier. IBD certifies under Brazilian, USDA NOP, EU, and JAS standards — a single-stop certifier widely used across Latin America. The East African regional organic mark, under the East Africa Organic Products Standard (EAOPS). Administered through Participatory Guarantee Systems coordinated by KOAN (Kenya Organic Agriculture Network).Germany's largest organic farmers' association. Bioland-certified farms operate to a stricter private standard than the EU baseline.Norway's only accredited organic certifier. The Ø-merket is required on any food sold as 'økologisk' in Norway. Does NOT
  • A single product may carry IBD plus a country-specific organic mark — IBD itself isn't the regulatory mark in any of those markets, just the accredited certifier.
  • PGS-based — the inspection model is community peer-review rather than third-party. Strong for domestic markets, less recognised by the EU/USA than third-party schemes.
  • Like Naturland, membership-based — only Bioland-association farms can use the mark.
  • Norway is outside the EU — the Ø is recognised under EEA equivalence, not direct EU equivalence.
