What it meansMexico's national organic mark, administered by SENASICA under the Ley de Productos Orgánicos (LPO).Sweden's leading organic mark. Covers ~60 product categories from cleaning products to hotels — NOT specifically an organic standard. The East African regional organic mark, under the East Africa Organic Products Standard (EAOPS). Guarantees
  • ≥95% organic ingredients per LPO.
  • Annual on-site inspection by SENASICA-accredited certifier.
  • EU baseline organic PLUS Swedish-specific welfare and climate add-ons.
  • Annual on-site inspection.
  • Climate footprint accounting on KRAV-certified farms.
  • Lifecycle-based environmental criteria for the product category.
  • Restrictions on hazardous chemicals.
  • Recyclability and packaging requirements.
  • Audited every 3-5 years against an updated standard.
  • Compliance with the East Africa Organic Products Standard (EAOPS).
  • Peer-review inspection via Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS).
  • Regional cross-recognition across the five East African Community member states.
Does NOT
  • USDA equivalence is granted product-by-product, not blanket.
  • Mark is trademark-protected.
  • Doesn't certify food as organic — Nordic Swan on a food package means lower-environmental-impact, not 'no synthetic pesticides'.
  • PGS-based — the inspection model is community peer-review rather than third-party. Strong for domestic markets, less recognised by the EU/USA than third-party schemes.
