The red Ø is one of the most-trusted food labels in the world — recognised by ~98% of Danish consumers. The UK's largest organic certifier. Standards are stricter than the UK government's baseline (which still mirrors EU 2018/848 post-Brexit). Recognised by the EU and USA under equivalence.Brazil's national organic mark under the Sistema Brasileiro de Avaliação da Conformidade Orgânica, administered by MAPA. Guarantees
  • EU baseline organic (EU 2018/848).
  • Annual on-site inspection by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
  • Direct government control (not a private body) — the unusual Danish model that drives high consumer trust.
  • Stricter-than-baseline organic standards across food, textiles, cosmetics, and farming.
  • Annual on-site inspection.
  • Animal welfare standards (outdoor access, lower stocking density).
  • ≥95% organic ingredients per Brazilian Organic Law 10.831/2003.
  • Annual on-site inspection by MAPA-accredited certifier OR a participatory-guarantee group (OPAC).
  • Two valid pathways: third-party certification OR a peer-reviewed OPAC system.
Does NOT
  • Outside Denmark, retailers usually rely on the EU Leaf rather than the Ø.
  • Logo is trademarked — not a free-licence mark.
  • OPAC (peer-review) certified products are valid in Brazil but typically not accepted for export — exporters need third-party (e.g. IBD).
