What it means	Brazil's national organic mark under the Sistema Brasileiro de Avaliação da Conformidade Orgânica, administered by MAPA. Required on any food sold as 'orgânico' in Brazil.	Sustainable-agriculture certification (post-2020 merged standard with UTZ). Covers environmental, social, and economic criteria. NOT an organic mark.	Argentina's national organic mark under SENASA (National Food Safety and Quality Service). Implemented as a label in December 2012 under Law 25.127 (1999).	The East African regional organic mark, under the East Africa Organic Products Standard (EAOPS). Used across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi. Administered through Participatory Guarantee Systems coordinated by KOAN (Kenya Organic Agriculture Network).

Guarantees	≥95% organic ingredients per Brazilian Organic Law 10.831/2003. Annual on-site inspection by MAPA-accredited certifier OR a participatory-guarantee group (OPAC). Two valid pathways: third-party certification OR a peer-reviewed OPAC system.	Reduced (not eliminated) synthetic pesticide use, with bans on the most hazardous classes. Forest conservation requirements (no deforestation after the cut-off date). Worker welfare and community development requirements. Annual third-party audit.	Compliance with Argentine Law 25.127. Annual on-site inspection by SENASA-accredited certifier. Recognised as equivalent to EU + USDA organic under bilateral agreements.	Compliance with the East Africa Organic Products Standard (EAOPS). Peer-review inspection via Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS). Regional cross-recognition across the five East African Community member states.
Does NOT	OPAC (peer-review) certified products are valid in Brazil but typically not accepted for export — exporters need third-party (e.g. IBD).	Allows synthetic pesticides — does NOT meet any organic standard. Often confused with organic but it's a different programme.	Domestic recognition only — exports use the buyer's national mark (USDA, EU Leaf) under equivalence.	PGS-based — the inspection model is community peer-review rather than third-party. Strong for domestic markets, less recognised by the EU/USA than third-party schemes.
