What it meansThe UK's largest organic certifier. Standards are stricter than the UK government's baseline (which still mirrors EU 2018/848 post-Brexit). Recognised by the EU and USA under equivalence. The strictest, most widely-recognised standard for organic textiles. Covers the full supply chain from organic fibre to finished garment, with environmental AND social criteria.National Association for Sustainable Agriculture, Australia. One of seven Australian Department of Agriculture-approved certifiers. IFOAM-accredited; certifies organic and biodynamic produce.Denmark's national organic mark, owned by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. Guarantees
  • Stricter-than-baseline organic standards across food, textiles, cosmetics, and farming.
  • Annual on-site inspection.
  • Animal welfare standards (outdoor access, lower stocking density).
  • ≥70% certified-organic natural fibre (the 'organic' grade requires ≥95%).
  • Restricted dyes, no chlorine bleach, no formaldehyde, no banned heavy metals.
  • Wastewater treatment requirements.
  • Social standards based on ILO core conventions (no child labour, no forced labour, fair wages, safe workplace).
  • Annual on-site inspection by IOAS-accredited certifier.
  • Compliance with the Australian National Standard for Organic and Bio-Dynamic Produce.
  • Annual on-site inspection.
  • Biodynamic certification option.
  • EU baseline organic (EU 2018/848).
  • Annual on-site inspection by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
  • Direct government control (not a private body) — the unusual Danish model that drives high consumer trust.
Does NOT
  • Logo is trademarked — not a free-licence mark.
  • Doesn't cover non-textile components (zips, buttons, prints) beyond the chemical-restriction list.
  • Australia has multiple competing organic certifiers — NASAA is one of seven, not the dominant national mark (that's ACO).
  • Outside Denmark, retailers usually rely on the EU Leaf rather than the Ø.
