What it meansFrance's national organic mark, owned by the Ministry of Agriculture. Sits alongside the EU Leaf on virtually all French organic packaging. The word 'natural' on packaging is a marketing term, not a certification. In most jurisdictions there's no legal definition, no standard, and no inspection. A product labelled 'natural' can contain synthetic ingredients, pesticides, GMOs, and artificial flavours.Argentina's national organic mark under SENASA (National Food Safety and Quality Service). Implemented as a label in December 2012 under Law 25.127 (1999).Finland's national organic 'Sun Mark' (Aurinkomerkki). Operated by the Finnish Food Authority. In practice most Finnish organic packaging carries both Luomu and the EU Leaf — they certify to the same baseline.

Guarantees
  • EU baseline organic (EU 2018/848).
  • Annual on-site inspection by accredited French certifiers (Ecocert, Bureau Veritas, Qualité-France).
  • Nothing. It is not a certification and there is no body verifying anything.
  • Compliance with Argentine Law 25.127.
  • Annual on-site inspection by SENASA-accredited certifier.
  • Recognised as equivalent to EU + USDA organic under bilateral agreements.
  • EU baseline organic (Finnish supply chains end-to-end).
  • Annual on-site inspection by the Finnish Food Authority.
Does NOT
  • Same standard as the EU Leaf — AB is the brand consumers recognise, not a stricter rule.
  • Doesn't mean organic. Doesn't mean pesticide-free. Doesn't mean GMO-free. Doesn't mean ethically produced.
  • Some markets (e.g. the US FDA on food, EU on cosmetics) place very limited restrictions on the word, but enforcement is weak.
  • Domestic recognition only — exports use the buyer's national mark (USDA, EU Leaf) under equivalence.
  • The Sun Mark is awarded only to fully Finnish supply chains — imports use the EU Leaf alone.
